It is true: I LOVE art. I have experimented with many, many aspects of arts & crafts throughout my life; some were fads, some continue to feed my soul. I used to sew, knit, crochet, make quilts, cross-stitch-- then I moved on to other things. I used to draw, watercolor, paint-- now I use these skills when I need them. I used to decorate elaborate cakes, redecorate rooms in my house, make custom jewelry-- I am still very much into interior design. Several years ago, I began to take advantage of having a husband who is a professional photographer and to create stories and pages of art using our family as my inspiration to scrapbook. I am still passionate about photography & scrapbooking and it gives me artistic satisfaction and happiness every time I build a layout or a mini-album or project. Bill remodeled our computer room so I could have my own scraproom--I think he really loves me.:)
I decided to revisit some of my old talents this year and get distracted. I thought maybe I would re-learn how to crochet and make a scarf or two. There are so many beautiful yarns these days, why not? Well, Natasha spent a couple of afternoons with her Granny and learned how to knit beanie hats. She looked like she was enjoying her new hobby so much, I asked her to teach me. What do you know? Natasha is an excellent teacher! (must be genetic, ha!) This month I have knitted two beanie hats and I am in love with my latest distraction! I found out : 1) it is very calming to knit while watching TV, 2) I can knit while in the car without getting carsick, 3) the projects are fun & fast, and 4) I am drawn to soft, fuzzy angelhair yarns that just feel good in my hands and against my skin. Aaaahhhhhhhhhh....
So, you say you need a distraction? Take up knitting! You just might enjoy yourself.
